PROJECT CHALLENGE
High-end specialty clothing store looked to replace its 50-watt PAR30 halogen lamps with an LED solution that could minimize the "presence" of the lighting while improving average foot-candles.
SOLAIS SOLUTION
The Solais LR20 lamp with snoot accessory, delivering 675 lumens at only 12 watts - this actively cooled PAR20 LED lamp replacement is the only lamp of its kind capable of upgrading the lighting from a PAR30 halogen lamp on a true 1:1 basis.
PERFORMANCE RESULTS
The Solais LED solution saved more than 76% of energy costs and improved the average foot-candles (fc) on the merchandise from 43 to 50, all from a 33% smaller diameter lamp than the original. Along with the smaller diameter, the added snoot accessory reduced the viewing angle of the actual source, helping create the retailer's desired effect of having the lighting "disappear" into the ceiling.
BEFORE SOLAIS SOLUTION
While using the 50-watt halogen lamp, the retailer is able to illuminate the merchandise with only a high of 61 fc and a low of 26 fc, as indicated on the rendering above on the clothing racks.
AFTER SOLAIS SOLUTION
The superior performance and custom accessories allow the Solais LR20 to illuminate the merchandise with a high of 70 fc and a low of 35 fc. This allows the retailer to reach the desired 8:1 contrast ratio of merchandise-to-floor illuminance.
